Meridian Completes Construction of State-Of-The-Art, 28,000 Square Foot Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Dallas

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb 12, 2019--Meridian Veterinary Capital, LLC, a Dallas-based real estate developer focused on procuring, designing, financing and building advanced animal care centers, has finished construction of a state-of-the-art veterinary facility in central Dallas for their operating partner, MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets. The hospital is located at 11343 N. Central Expressway and opened on February 11, 2019.

Meridian was instrumental in site selection, design oversight, and construction management, and provided the capital to acquire the property and fund the renovation of the building. MedVet will be Meridian’s tenant under a long-term lease arrangement.

Facility stats:

  • Total project size: 38,950 rentable square feet
  • Hospital size: 28,000 square feet
  • Advanced specialty features: 10 exam rooms, four surgical suites, CT, X-ray, MRI and central lab
  • Time to completion: 12 months after start of construction

Dallas is a new market for MedVet, but Meridian founder Curt Boisfontaine knew there was a need for a centrally located veterinary specialty and emergency hospital in the region. He identified and cultivated the opportunity to partner with MedVet and brought that vision to fruition. He located a highly visible 3-acre parcel of land in central Dallas and acquired it with an existing 50-year-old building. The Meridian team, including M+A Architects, designers and contractors, worked closely with MedVet executives and veterinarians to complete the project.

Meridian focused on building quality, making sure to balance this with cost-effectiveness for its operating partner. The end result is not only visually stunning and well located, but provides a formerly lacking progressive platform for advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities for companion animals in North Texas. MedVet Dallas will provide care by board-certified veterinary specialists in internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and surgery. The facility will be open 24/7 for emergency services. MedVet Dallas is a referral hospital, primarily working with local veterinary primary care practitioners.

“While veterinary specialists are available throughout the Dallas area, there was not a single location where specialists worked collaboratively under one roof and as part of one team,” said Boisfontaine. “We could not be more pleased with our unique partnership with MedVet. We hope to expand our relationship with them in other markets as they continue to grow.”

Meridian and MedVet have another project underway in Chicago that will provide approximately 65,000 square feet for veterinary specialty, emergency and cancer care. MedVet Chicago, to be completed in Q2 2019, will be the largest privately operated veterinary specialty hospital in the United States based on square footage.
